Rutherford Pairs the Wines For Shania Twain Wedding

RIO GRANDE, NEW JERSEY — Cape May County restaurateur Ric Rutherford, owner of Rio Station Restaurant, paired wines for singer Shania Twain's wedding to Frederic Thiebaud on the beach in Rincon, Puerto Rico on New Year's Day.

"I was asked by her natural foods caterer to pair wines for the dinner as well as provide party wines throughout the week for the guests. At first, they wanted French, Italian, and Californian wines but I suggested that they go with Spanish wines to keep it real since the wedding was in Puerto Rico. They decided that was a good idea, so we got busy tasting and it worked out beautifully."

Rutherford has also done wine consultation for the French hotel chain Relais Chateau and his restaurant has received the Wine Spectator award of Excellence, one of only 11 awarded in New Jersey in the inexpensive wine category.
