Shania Twain: Pop Stars Shouldn't Be Criticized for Being 'Too Sexy'

Apparently Shania Twain and Katy Perry aren't on the same page when it comes to being sexy in the public eye.

About a week after Perry, 29, said today's pop stars need to "put it away" when it comes to showing too much skin, Twain, 48, told "ET Canada" in an episode airing Monday as a part of its Shania week, "I don't think [pop stars are] too sexy now."

Explained the starlet, "The boundaries are really up to the individual and then it's up to the viewer whether they like it or not."

Looking back on being criticized for showing her stomach in a music video before it was common, Twain said, "I'm very comfortable with myself. I'm not bearing my midriff for effect or for shock factor ... I'm just doing it because I like my midriff."

Reflecting on her new music, the country singer revealed that creating such a personal album brought out her "really angry" side.

Learning of her ex-husband's affair in 2008, Twain has talked about how the experience left her devastated, to the point where she "didn't want to live."

Explained Twain in Monday's show, "In real life, when I'm writing this stuff I'm probably swearing every third word as I'm working through all of the emotion that's really there."
