Though she’s been out of the spotlight for many long years, Shania Twain has left a lasting impression on all those who hear her music. After taking a leave of absence for 15 years, the Canadian native is back and ready to start an entirely new chapter of her long-lasting and well-deserved career. While she looks forward to what’s to come, the singer has been indulged in hearing the stories of her influence from over the years, including recently chatting with Lady Antebellum.

The GRAMMY-winning trio looked to Twain’s music for influence and paid homage to the “Life’s About To Get Good” singer when they covered her smash hit, “You’re Still The One,” during their stop in Toronto for the You Look Good Tour.

Catching up with Twain before their show, the band related the song to parallels in their own journey together, calling out lines like “You’re still the one I run to” in relation to their own song “I Run To You,” and relating their 10 years of growth to the lyrics, “Look how far we’ve come, my baby.”

For a stripped-down moment in the show, the trio combined their vocal prowess for the cover, as Twain and her husband Frederic Thiebaud watched from the audience. Tour opener Kelsea Ballerini, who’s largely expressed her love for Twain, sat next to the iconic act, soaking in every moment. As the song concluded, Ballerini was moved to tears from what she’d just witnessed.

“First show ever in Canada tonight. My hero and new friend @shaniatwain came to see the show, and then I got to sit with her and her sweet hubby and be a part of this moment watching @ladyantebellum sing the song that made all of us aspire to be as good as her one day. Held back so many tears, but man are they coming down now. One of those moments that I will keep in my heart forever. #stilltheone,” she captioned her own video as she sang next to her idol.

The moment will likely be tough to top, but Lady Antebellum has plenty of opportunities as they continue their You Look Good World Tour.
