• 12/23/10 Shania & Her Manager Jason Owen Spotted In NYC - Video! At the top of tonight's "Access Hollywood" they showed video of Shania and her Sandbox Entertainment manager Jason Owen out & about in New York City last night. They were going out for dinner. In one shot they showed Shania joyfully jumping out of her car. In another they showed Shania and Jason walking into a building and someone yelled, "I love your songs Shania!" The Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) has released it's first promo video featuring several celebrities that will be part of the new network's lineup, including Shania. • 11/10/10 No Vegas Show For Shania. From Las Vegas Weekly: All those gossip site reports about Shania Twain coming to Caesars Palace simply aren’t correct -- or at best they’re a step ahead of themselves. I [Robin Leach] asked The Colosseum execs about the rumors, and they simply said, “Not true. No contract, no negotiations.” They added that they’d love to welcome her if she wants to perform here, but at the moment, absolutely nothing is set in cement.

• 11/10/10 Twain Time In Vegas? From Las Vegas Weekly: At a Billboard Music Awards press conference in 2003, Shania Twain said she’d have to be “really old” to have a show on the Vegas Strip. • 11/3/10 Taylor Swift Tops Shania In Debut & One-Week Sales. From Billboard: Taylor Swift's "Speak Now" album spoke loud and clear last week, as it will debut at No. 1 on this week's Billboard 200 chart with a whopping 1,047,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It's the largest sales week for an album since 50 Cent's "The Massacre" bowed at No. 1 with 1,141,000 in March of 2005. A few more Swift milestones to note: "Speak Now" has the second-largest sales week of any country album since 1991 when SoundScan began tracking music sales. Only Garth Brooks' 1998 effort "Double Live" moved more, when it started with 1,085,000. Thus, Swift also achieves the biggest sales week of any female country act. Previously, the high-water mark was set by fellow crossover diva Shania Twain when her "Up!" started with 874,000 at No. 1 in 2002.

• 11/1/10 Las Vegas Twain-ing Day: From Las Vegas Review-Journal: Country singer Shania Twain adds TV host to her resume with a new show for Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network, which replaces Discovery Health Jan. 1. The show — which has a working title of “Why Not? With Shania Twain” — wraps a five-day Vegas visit today; scheduled locations range from the Strip to the Fremont Street Experience. On the show, Twain will “open up about her life-altering heartbreak” — she’s now divorced from her longtime producer, Robert “Mutt” Lange — “and how she’s moving on,” according to OWN publicity. The Las Vegas footage is expected to air next Spring.

• 10/6/10 BMI London Million-Air Awards. From BMI.com:  Broadcast Music Inc.(BMI) celebrated Europe’s premier songwriters, composers and music publishers last night during its annual BMI London Awards. Guests filled London’s Dorchester Hotel, Park Lane to toast the past year’s most-performed songs on U.S. radio and television. Prestigious "Million-Air" certificates were also presented throughout the evening in recognition of those songs that have achieved more than three million U.S. radio and television performances. Shania received two Million-Air certificates. One for "You're Still The One" which achieved 7 Million airplays and another for "From The Moment On" which achieved 4 Million airplays. • 10/4/10 Shania In Timmins - News Report. Click HERE to watch a news report from channel 10 Eastlink TV News in Timmins. The report says Shania arrived in Timmins on Saturday night to film segments for her new reality show "Why Not? With Shania Twain." Today she visited a flower shop and then went to a cemetery to film a part of her show. Shania leaves Timmins on Tuesday.

• 9/2/10 No "Idol" For Shania. After weeks of speculation, Shania will NOT be joining "American Idol" next season as a judge. NYmag.com is reporting: "Better luck next time, Shania Twain: TMZ says Jennifer Lopez is "in the final stages of negotiations" to join Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson at the "American Idol" judges' table. Earlier reports said she'd priced herself out by demanding $20 million per year, but TMZ's sources say "there has been no drama and no diva demands … It's been typical negotiating." A signed deal is expected sometime next week. Oh well."

• 6/12/10 Shania In PEOPLE Magazine - 6/21. There is a shortened version of the online PEOPLE article about Shania's divorce being finalized in this week's June 21 issue of PEOPLE magazine (page 52). Along with the article there's a small picture of Shania and Frederic at last week's Swiss Red Cross Gala. It's a pic we haven't seen online. Shania and Frederic are standing face-to-face and Shania has her left hand on the side of Fred's face as if she is about to kiss him. • 6/7/10 Shania #14 - Top 25 Country Artists. Billboard recently combed the Hot Country Songs and Top Country Albums charts to rank the top 25 country artists of the last 25 years (1985-2010). George Strait is ranked #1. Shania is ranked #14. Though absent from Country Songs since 2005, Twain remains the best-selling female country album artist since Nielsen's SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991, having sold 33.9 million albums in that span. Her lasting pop culture prominence was reaffirmed when she served as a mentor this past season on "American Idol"; following the April 27 and 28 episodes, Twain's "Greatest Hits" soared back onto the Billboard 200. "It was emotional for me to listen to every one of their gorgeous voices singing my words," Twain blogged of the top six finalists. "Every one of them thoroughly entertained me and reminded me of how lucky I am to be a songwriter." • 6/6/10 Swiss Red Cross Gala Video. HERE is a 3min 22sec video from last Saturday's Swiss Red Cross Gala in Geneva, Switzerland. There are few clips here and there with Shania: First sitting at the table with a glass of wine in hand next to Fred; then briefly commenting on the inspiration for the clothes; then winning a bid for the auction they do during the dinner (she won a Meditation workshop), then happily dancing with Fred. • 6/6/10 Shania #3 Best Selling Female Artist Of SoundCan Era. In an article on Mariah Carey, Billboard lists the Top 5 Best Selling Female Artists in SoundScan history. Shania is the 3rd Best Selling Female Artist of the SoundScan era. [Note: SoundScan began tracking actual U.S. album sales in 1991.] According to the Billboard article, here are the top 5 Best Selling Female Artists in SoundScan history: 1. Mariah Carey -- 52.6 million 2. Celine Dion -- 51 million 3. Shania Twain -- 33.9 million 4. Britney Spears -- 31.5 million 5. Reba McEntire -- 29.3 million

• 6/4/10 Shania To Attend Prince William's Wedding? According to an article in the Toronto Sun, Star magazine is reporting Shania will attend the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Speculation is that they could get married this month. The current edition of Star, a supermarket magazine, has “exclusive, jaw-dropping” details of the impending nuptials, even a photo of Kate trying on a wedding dress. Estimated wedding cost: $40 million, to be split by the family and British taxpayers. Kate will arrive in a glass coach pulled by four horses, at St. Paul’s Cathedral. That’s where Wills’ mom, the sainted Diana, married ol’ whatzisname. Guests will include Michelle Obama, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Nicole Richie and our own Shania Twain, Star says.

*Note: The mentoring takes place over the weekend and they show a clip of the session with each 'Idol' contestant before they sing Tuesday night. The mentor is LIVE in the audience during Tuesday night's show. The question is, since Shania most likely will not be singing (as most mentors do) on Wednesday night's live results show, will she be on Wednesday as well? "American Idol" will air Tuesday at 8:00-9:00pm ET/PT and Wednesday at 9:00-10:00pm ET/PT on FOX.

A: There's no news on the album front, according to her record label, but Twain raised her profile recently through her well-received stint as a judge on "American Idol." From Billboard: Absolutely no weeks have passed since Nov. 11, 2006, that Taylor Swift's sef-titled debut album did not grace the Billboard 200, a run that, this week, grants her one of her most impressive chart feats yet. This week, it's her eponymous debut album that affords Swift her latest chapter of chart history. Taylor Swift logs a 157th week on the Billboard 200, marking the longest stay on the survey by any release this decade. The album peaked at No. 5 in January 2008 and this week ranks at No. 60. Having already passed the 151-week chart life of Shania Twain's Come On Over (1997-2000), Taylor Swift is also the longest-charting album by a female country artist in the entire Nielsen SoundScan era, which dawned the chart week of May 25, 1991.

Twain has been keeping a low profile, aside from an appearance at the Country Music Association awards last November. But this week she will be a guest judge on "American Idol" during the Chicago auditions, and she has reached out to fans by posting a personal letter and video travelogue on her Web site. A: John, for two years the word from Shania Twain's label has been "new music, perhaps this year." But, then Shania had to deal with the breakup of her marriage to her producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange. Shania showed up at the CMA Awards last year and said it herself, that she's working on new music and looking forward to releasing it soon. How soon? Maybe this year (but we've heard that before). Let's hope it is this year.

Although several sources revealed on Wednesday, Jan. 21, that Shania Twain will make an announcement about a new album during the latter part of the week of Jan. 26, a spokesperson from her record label, Mercury Nashville, contacted Country Weekly magazine late on Thursday, Jan. 22, to say that there would be no announcement of new Shania music any time soon. They also had a photo of them sitting at a table for two having lunch. They also had at least 2 photos of their 'extremely close' tandem sky dive. Let me say that Frederic has very strong bone structure, and you can tell he would be much better looking in person than in photographs. Ciara said that ST and FT flew into New York, did some shopping, then went to Key West, Florida, stayed at a private beach side bungalow - they were seen kissing and 'he popped an olive into her mouth' CONFIRMED! They are clearly more than 'just friends' - Once again, I'm so happy for Shania! I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of this mag when it comes out. I'll scan it when it comes out!"

The reporter then said they were being tight-lipped about their relastionship. Joseph apparently has been approached about the scuttlebutt by curious reporters the past few days, including a member of Sun Media this morning. Cujos response? He remained quiet, offered up a wry smile, then headed off to the team bus.

• 10/7/08 BMI London Million-Air Certificates. From BMI.com: American music rights organization Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI) lauded U.K., Europe and Jamaica's premier songwriters, composers and music publishers tonight at the 2008 installment of the BMI London Awards. Staged in the Grand Ballroom of London's Dorchester Hotel, the event honored the past year's most-played songs on U.S. radio and television, saluting numerous U.K. songwriters, composers and music publishers alongside music creators from Europe and other international markets. Prestigious "Million-Air" certificates were also presented throughout the evening in recognition of those songs that have achieved more than three million U.S. radio and television performances/ -- the equivalent of more than 17 years of continuous airplay. Shania received three Million-Air certificates. One for "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" which achieved 4 Million airplays, one for "That Don't Impress Me Much" which also achieved 4 Million airplays and another for "Forever And For Always" which achieved 3 Million airplays. • 9/27/08 Shania - No. 10 Act Of SoundScan/Bar-code Era. From Yahoo! Music: Nielsen/SoundScan began tracking U.S. album sales in May 1991. There were charts before 1991, of course. Billboard first ran an album chart in March 1945. It became a regular weekly feature 11 years later. But precise sales figures weren't authenticated and made public until SoundScan brought the business into the modern bar-code-reading age (for better and for worse). To mark the occasion, I'm counting down the top 15 acts that have sold the most albums in Nielsen/SoundScan history. These are the 15 artists who have sold the most albums since May 25, 1991. The tallies don't count any albums sold before that date. Nielsen/SoundScan also maintains a running list of the top 200 albums in its history. I've included the total number of albums each of these artists has on that list, as well as the title of the artist's highest-ranking album.
10. Shania Twain, 33,672,000 albums sold. Twain is the only female country artist in the top 15. (Reba McEntire is runner-up in 22nd place.) Twain has three albums in the top 200. Her 1997 blockbuster, Come On Over, is the #1 best-seller of the Nielsen/SoundScan era, with sales of 15,467,000 (nearly half of her total). Twain, who was born Eilleen Regina Edwards, was named CMA's Entertainer of the Year in 1999. Twain first hit the country album chart in July 1993 with her eponymous debut. She first made the pop album chart in March 1995 with The Woman In Me.

Chubby Checker's "The Twist." is No. 1. Shania’s "You’re Still The One" came in at No. 66. "You're Still The One" peaked at No. 2 on the Hot 100 chart on 5/21/98. Written by Shania Twain and then-husband Mutt Lange about their relationship, "You're Still The One" was the artist's first top 10 and most successful single on the Hot 100. Twain won two Grammy awards in 1999 for the track, as well as song of the year at the 1999 BMI Country Songwriter Awards. Over on the Hot 100 Country songs chart, Shania's "You're Still The One" is No. 3.

...In the early 80s, Rhonda followed a dream to California where late night TV was a natural as were regular gigs at the Bonaventure Hotel and the Century Plaza. In 1985, she was lured back to Canada to headline a revue at the Deerhurst Inn and Resort and establish a presence in their piano bar. Before long, she and Mike Degazio, backed by the management of Deerhurst, signed a contract with A&M Records as Silver & Degazio and enjoyed success in Canadian country radio. During this time, she helped an aspiring singer named Eilleen Twain secure work in the show where they sang side by side for two years.

She's been in touch with friends to say everything that's been reported is true about her soon-to-be ex-husband -- record producer and co-writer Robert "Mutt" Lange -- and the other woman. The woman is the one who worked for Shania and Mutt in their mansion in Switzerland. The woman has also filed for divorce from her husband. A: Amanda, my first reaction was to hope they'd already completed her projects before the split. There's no confirmation on that, but Shania was quoted recently as saying she and Mutt will continue to be partners in their music business affairs. There was no indication of how long that relationship will last? But hopefully, it means they have or soon will have, at least one more project to collaborate on. Only time will tell.

A: Max, what's up with Shania Twain has been the permanent question of the week from folks like you for the last couple of years. There was hopeful word that Shania was close to releasing new music later this year. But late last week, Shania's spokesperson issued a brief statement that said that she and her husband, Robert "Mutt" Lange, have separated. Now, that is sad news for Shania, Mutt and their son, Eja. And it also affects Shania's musical career. After all, Mutt Lange has produced, helped write and sang background vocals on all of her hugely successful albums. The question is, did they complete enough new music together before the breakup that her career won't be hurt? Or, have their marriage difficulties held up any creative work for such a long time? From Entertainment Tonight: ET's KEVIN FRAZIER was backstage and on the red carpet for all the action at the "43rd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards," where the country world was abuzz over DOLLY PARTON's feud with HOWARD STERN, SHANIA TWAIN's break-up and NICOLE KIDMAN's baby bump! Last night Garth Brooks, Leann Rimes and Dr. Phil commented about Shania's split on the ACM Awards orange carpet.
Garth Brooks: "For all people who are getting divorced, there are 2 people you can talk to: God, and the person you're divorcing. Always talk, talk..."
Leann Rimes: "It's sad, it's very sad what they're going through... But they'll grow; both of them are strong people."
Dr. Phil: "She's strong, she's talented, she's gonna do great. I'm sad for what she's going through and I sure wish her well and I'll keep being a fan."

• 5/17/08 Bryan Adams On Shania Divorce. From USAWeekend.com: Just got off the phone with Canadian rocker Bryan Adams who has just released his eleventh album titled 11 and has been doing a big promotional push this week. Adams worked with producer Mutt Lange on several songs so I asked Adams if he'd heard today's news that Lange's 14-year-marriage to Shania Twain is over. He had, and said he was surprised to hear it, but noted that they may still be able to collaborate on music, which drew them together in the first place.

It will be held on Saturday, May 24 in Palexpo, Geneva, Switzerland. This year's event will have a Brazilian theme and Shania is the Honorary President. • 4/24/08 FHM's 100 Sexiest Women - Update. The results are in for "FHM's 100 Sexiest Women 2008" and the news is not good! Shania did not make the FHM (U.S.) list or the FHM (UK) list where she came in at #56 last year.

• 4/22/08 Shania Expected To Attend 2008 Swiss Red Cross Gala. From OFC message board: CountryQueen posted, "Hi everyone! I thought of sharing this with you. Last week I wrote an email to the Swiss Red Cross asking if Shania was going to attend this year. They answered me that she's planning to go there. The event will be on the 24th of May and it will take place in Geneva, Switzerland. That's great!" Thanks Rita!

A: The only thing we know for sure is that Shania Twain has indicated that there may be new music from her this year. But, her label is quick to tell us that there is no official date announced yet.
***On a side note, the September 23 release date rumor came from the Pulse Music Board back in January.

• 2/5/08 Ne-Yo Had Shania In Mind While Writing Beyoncé's Biggest Hit. From VH1.com: You've heard this story a million times about some enormous hit song: "It was a last-minute add to the album," "It almost didn't make the cut," "We didn't think it sounded finished," "I wrote it in two minutes on my way to rehearsal," "I almost gave it to another singer." And sure enough, one of last year's most inescapable songs, and one of the biggest hits in Beyoncé's already smash-heavy career, "Irreplaceable," almost didn't happen. Written by Ne-Yo and super-producers Stargate, the Record of the Year Grammy nominee is the kind of tune that worms its way into your head and keeps you humming the hook, "To the left, to the left." .....The tune was not specifically written for Beyoncé — in fact, Ne-Yo wrote it from a male perspective — and Tor Hermansen (Stargate) said that had they been writing for the former Destiny's Child leader, they might not have gone in the direction they did. The sound just wasn't one they associated with her voice. Ne-Yo has said in interviews that he had Faith Hill and Shania Twain in mind when he wrote "Irreplaceable" as a country song, and Hermansen still thinks the tune could easily have been a country radio hit.

From Shania Twain Official Fan Club: Shania Starlight had $4.8 million (US) in sales, and was the No. 1 women's fragrance launch, according to this IRI report. And in terms of overall ranking, Shania ranked as the 8th largest fragrance house (which would include BOTH fragrances), with 2.4% of the total women's fragrance market.

One growth spot was women's designer fragrances, which accounted for 20% of sales in 2007, up from 18% in 2006. Celebrity scents slipped a bit, accounting for 27% in 2007, compared with 28% in 2006. While the top 10 women's fragrance houses account for a 37% share of the total market, only four of the top 10--Calvin Klein, Jennifer Lopez, Shania, and Baby Phat--made share gains.

From sail-world.com: For the past two weeks the Treleaven family, with their mast removed have motored south from Martinique to the Grenadine Islands and back again. ......Port Elizabeth on Bequia is a delightful natural Harbour, and a steel band on shore at night sees Ian and Nicola salsa-dancing in the sand. Princess Margaret beach with its turquoise water, white sand beach lined with palm trees is a welcome anchorage and swim ashore. Seven miles away is the peaceful billionaire’s island of Mustique, privately owned but can be still enjoyed by the public. Princess Margaret was the first to own a house here in 1968. Current owners are Mick Jagger, Tommy Hilfiger, Shania Twain and Bryan Adams who were all present during our stay, plus Hugh Grant. Hiring a mule -as they call an open jeep - we go ‘mansion’ hunting around the island. Beware of the land tortoises crossing the road, one has to stop and carry them out of the way. Mansions we do find and even get to see through Bryan Adams modern water front secluded home on a private beach.

• 1/19/08 New Album - September 23, 2008? A second rumor regarding the release of Shania's new album has surfaced on a message board. According to a post on the Pulse Music Board, Shania's new album will be released September 23. The other rumor is from UMG Spain citing a release date of May 13.

• 1/18/08 ET Canada: New Album In May. Last night on "ET Canada" it was reported that Shania will have a new album coming out in May. The media person they interviewed said Shania has been doing alot of soul searching and it will be kind of an introspective album. In no way is this an official announcement. For all we know they could be just running with the rumors circulating the internet. Stay tuned...

From gactv.com: Just over 10 years after its initial release, Shania Twain's Come On Over remains the best selling album since Nielsen's Soundscan started tracking sales in 1991, according to countryondemand.com. Last year alone, the CD sold 41,000 copies. Certified 20X platinum and racking up total sales of well over 15 million, Come On Over is the best selling country album of all time and the best selling female album of all time. Overall, Shania ranks tenth on Soundscan's list of all-time best sellers with 33 million units sold. Shania, who was selected in a GAC poll as the singer most men would want to serenade them, is currently working on a new studio project. No release date has been set.

A: Chucky, I get this a lot, but can't confirm any release date for new Shania Twain music this year. Her label tells me not to believe any rumors regarding a Shania release until you hear about it on the radio, read it as confirmed on her website, or in the news at GACTV.com. When the label gets word from Shania that she'll be releasing new music, they plan on making a lot of noise about it.

• 1/3/08 New Album Rumor Not True. According to Angie, the Moderator on the Official Fan Club message board, the rumor about Shania releasing a new album on May 13 is NOT true. A spokesperson from Q-Prime Management said "she is still writing and has not recorded. At this time, we have no time-line for any release." Sorry fans. The waiting and wondering continues.

• 1/3/08 Shania Maintains Biggest Album Of SoundScan Era. From UndercoverHD.com: The top 10 best selling albums of the SoundScan era did not change last year. Shania Twain still has the biggest selling album of the SoundScan era. The SoundScan era accounts for sales from 1991 until now. Last year, Shania Twain's 'Come On Over' sold an additional 41,000 units bringing total sales to 15,449,000. Metallica's 'Metallica' sold 258,000 units in 2007 to bring total sales to 15,077,000 and closing the gap to Shania by 372,000 units. If these percentages keep up, 'Metallica' will overtake 'Come On Over' during 2009. It looks like Shania is safe for '08. While the top 10 albums stayed in the same 10 positions, sales for the albums varied dramatically. The biggest seller of the Top 10 was The Beatles '1'. It sold 276,000 units last year. The slowly mover of the 10 was N Sync's 'No Strings Attached'. It sold just 5,000 units in 2007. Backstreet Boys 'Millennium' and the 'Bodyguard' soundtrack also registered less than 10,000 sales with 8,000 and 9,000 respectively.
